Celebrate IABC Tucson’s Silver Jubilee
There is no chapter meeting in January, but we are starting off our 26th year in style.
Join us February 1, 2007 when Todd Hattori, ABC, incoming chairman of the International Association of Business Communicators, will kick-off the Tucson chapter’s 25th anniversary celebration with a talk on cutting-edge technology.
Hattori’s talk, “New Technology: What’s Right for Your Communication Mix” is tailored to practitioners of business communications, Hattori’s talk will focus on new frontiers in communications technologies, including use of intranets, extranets, webcasts, wikis, blogs and podcasts.
“Technological changes in the communications profession over the last 25 years have been amazing and I’m looking forward to discussing these at our Tucson event,” says Hattori, who also is Senior Policy and Strategic Technologies Consultant for the Washington State Department of Information Services in Olympia.
Hattori will detail what’s on the horizon and how to decide whether or not to ride the next great technology wave. He’ll explore best practices in implementing and assessing these new communication tools.
RSVP by January 29 to Mimi Villafane at mimivgib@yahoo.com. Be sure to indicate meat (Sliced Steak Au Poivre with roasted potatoes) or vegan (Vegetable/Tofu Kabobs with roasted potatoes).
Hattori's appearance is made possible with contributions from IABC and its Pacific Plains Region.
Additional support comes from IABC/Tucson member Stephen Reidy and these independent communications professionals: Elena Acoba, Bob Berry, Lynn Brown-Quick, Karen Dahood, Juleen Eichinger, Susan Green, Marilyn Pincus, Julie Ray, Janni Lee Simner, Paul Tumarkin, and Karen Wood.

Bored? Get on the Board!
We’re planning ahead and looking for a few good board members to lead our chapter in 2007/2008. If you are interested in learning more about IABC and having a great time working with a group of communications pros, call Mimi Villafane at 744-2944, ext 1363 to submit your name for next year’s chapter Board.
And as an added incentive….
Every year IABC runs a Leadership Institute for current and future chapter board members. It's rich with IABC culture, but also chock full of tips for developing your own leadership skills in such areas as strategic planning, working with volunteers, membership recruitment and event planning. Any IABC member can attend, but the Tucson chapter will help pay the way of any member who commits to one year of chapter board service. If you're interested in attending the San Diego institute on January 25 through 27, contact Elena Acoba, 742-1979 or acoba@dakotacom.net
Calling All Webheads
We are looking for a web designer to assist with converting the new design for our chapter site into templates. The volunteer selected for the task will receive one year’s membership in the IABC Tucson chapter. If you are interested in helping, please contact Paul Tumarkin at pkt@barkingshelby.com.
