Read IABC/Tucson Chapter Prez Paul Tumarkin's Letter to Members
In This Issue:
Five IABC/Tucson members are working toward earning their Accredited Business Communicator designation. They’ve created a work group with its own Ning social networking site. Marci TeBockhorst leads the group and Nancy McCluskey-Moore, ABC, provides advice and support. Check out the site through the link at www.iabctucson.com/accreditation.html
Create Your Own IABC/Tucson Event
Interested in getting IABC/Tucson members together to bounce off ideas? Meet for happy hour or coffee break? Participate in a social responsibility event? We can make it happen for you. Let the board know and we’ll schedule and announce it. Remember, we no longer are tied to a formal monthly meeting format. What works for you works for the chapter. Contact Paul Tumarkin, pkt@barkingshelby.com, with your concept.
Sarah Lynn Shah is a University of Arizona sophomore applying this year to be a communications major with a minor in sports management. “I am very interested in production of events, producing and organizing teams as of right now,” she says. “Things may change within the major once I learn even more about possible careers and experience more internships.”
Thanks to these IABC/Tucson members who judged entries for Dallas’s Quills: Elena Acoba, Alice Atalla, Bob Berry, John Brown, Susan Guerrero, Linda Herrick, Karen Lutrick, Monica Surfaro-Spigelman, Marci TeBockhorst and Paul Tumarkin. This assures that we’ll have judges for our Cactus Quill program in the spring.
Get connected to IABC/Tucson social networks and don’t miss out on these activities:
∙ Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn will report on Firehouse Pictures’s Aug. 26 workshop on creating online videos.
∙ Recent LinkedIn discussions have focused on civil civic discourse, storytelling and the recession.
∙ A fan page will soon go up on Facebook.
Bring your own lunch if you’re attending “So You Want to Post a Video.” If you need to cancel, please alert Elena Acoba, acoba@dakotacom.net, so she can notify someone on the waiting list.
∙ Worldwide Membership Month runs through September. Get a colleague to sign up during that time to save up to $40. Non-members can test drive www.iabc.com during the month.
∙ RSVP for upcoming events anytime at events@iabctucson.com. Check www.iabctucson.com for online payment of admission-fee events.
