  • Employee Engagement

“Tales from the Trenches: Employee Engagement Strategies" Thursday, Sept. 17, 11:45 a.m.-1:15 p.m. Old Pueblo Grille, 60 N. Alvernon Way Learn communications strategies for building and sustaining employee engagement and help retain your organization’s best employees. Sharing their ideas and experience will be Master Sgt. Carl Rhea, USAF, the commandant of the Airman Leadership School at Davis-Monthan, and Linda Heffernen, director of Change Initiatives for the UA. Buy your own lunch from the restaurant menu. Arm yourself with questions to ask our experts in this engaging discussion. The event is free to members, $5 for non-members, $3 for students. Admission is limited to 25. RSVP at events@iabctucson.com or visit our info page about the event to pay online.

    Book Lovers, Volunteer!

The chapter board plans to submit a proposal for IABC/Tucson to participate in next year’s Festival of Books March 13-14 at the University of Arizona. Some, but by no means the only, ideas: staff a booth, moderate panels, introduce speakers or create our own panel. If you want to participate as an IABC/Tucson representative, contact Paul Tumarkin, pkt@barkingshelby.com, with what you’d like to do. We’ll focus on what members want to participate in.

Thanks for the Online Video Workshop

Thanks to Sally Sumner and the rest of the Firehouse Pictures crew for an online video workshop rich with tips. Some of them are detailed in an article by Vanessa Reyes, president of the UA’s Communications Club and a Bio 5 Initiative student employee. It’s on our website as well as part of the discussion on LinkedIn and Facebook.

Get Help with You Cactus Quill Entry

Need help putting together a Cactus Quill entry? We’ll have a work session in January that ends with you having a good start or a completed entry for the specific project you want to enter in IABC/Tucson’s recognition of best practices and skills.
