Still Time to Submit Cactus Quill Entry
Friday, March 19, is the early deadline for accepting entries for the 2010 Cactus Quill Awards, sponsored by Bohte Design LLC, but there is still another chance. The final deadline is March 26. Get that entry completed and turn it in! You could have something to brag about to your boss or client.

And you can use the same entry for the Silver Quill Awards program recently opened by the Pacific Plains Region. Check out the details in the Call for Entry.

UA Students Seeking Speakers
Members of the UA Communications Club would like to hear from professionals about business communications careers. IABC/Tucson president Paul Tumarkin is speaking April 6 and would love to have at least one more person to join him to talk about what business communicators do. If you’re interested, please contact Paul at pkt@barkingshelby.com

Preemptive Public Relations May 6
Creating goodwill before the crisis occurs provides you a cushion of trust that can help restore and maintain your company’s reputation. Former chapter president John Brown, director of communications at the University of Arizona, uses case studies drawn from his career in communications, including for an electric utility and real estate, to help you map out a strategy to deal with a crisis before it happens.

Welcome New Member
Welcome to Kristen Manganini of Raytheon Missile Systems, who joined IABC/Tucson this week. She is an engineering event planner.

Thanks to a Multitude
A whole bunch of chapter members helped people at the Tucson Festival of Books learn more about the great things IABC has to offer. Much gratitude goes to

Nancy McCluskey-Moore, ABC, who headed the committee that organized the IABC/Tucson booth at the festival. Serving were Elena Acoba, Karen Lutrick and Jaime Williams.

Booth staffers included Alice Atalla, Karen Dahood, Dina Doolen, Will Dobbs, Heather Floyd, Kathy Hippensteel, Sally Sumner and Paul Tumarkin. Elena Acoba, Nancy McCluskey-Moore and Monica Surfaro-Spigelmanshe sewed book bags!helped out in the booth and donated items that the chapter gave away in drawings.

Other book donors were Juleen Eichinger, Marilyn Pincus and The Knowledge Centre at IABC.

Thanks to all who stopped by and who encouraged folks to do the same. We made many contacts and educated people on what our profession is all about.
